The Autodesk software company launched an iPhone application which allows users to take photos, upload them to the cloud service company, and transform it into three-dimensional images.
The department responsible for consumer product development of the company states that the tool will provide access to anyone to capture, explore, experiment, and experience the 3D design process.
The Autodesk 123D Catch application may be used as a basis for further modeling, animation, or to create a printed object.
The app offers “the ability to capture, design and realize their ideas, as well as connect with others for support or inspiration. Anyone can test applications, services, and Autodesk communities to learn and experience the creative process,” explained the company in a statement that was released prior to the launch of the new app.
The application also introduced the possibility of cloud storage for all projects in order for users to share files and explore the creations of others from an online gallery. App lovers, especially those enthralled with photography and three-dimensional images, will surely have something to talk about once the app is fully released to the public. Imagine creating a 3D work of art from a simple photo taken on a regular day by an average tablet user.
